Market Feature Today (July 16th)

What a wonderful day to venture to the Wake Forest Farmer’s Market! There were tomatoes, eggs,  watermelons, blueberries, peas, and butterbeans everywhere. Many other items were there as well. I found a new type of Chard at this week’s feature vendor’s booth called purpetual spinach chard. This is a very tender type of chard that is worth experimenting with. The only way I have used it thus far is in my green smoothies, which are quite tasty! 🙂 The young lady working the Enda Lee’s booth has her own food blog called “a-single-serving”. Here Anne tries to educate us on different foods, herbs, and single dining. Anne is doing much of the same things at the Edna Lee’s booth each Saturday. Herbs such as ginger and tumeric are for sale and if asked she will offer gardening advice. Also available at the Edna Lee’s booth is some of the best pound cake around! Other produce items ready for purchase are peppers, tomatoes, plants, etc. Stop by the Edna Lee’s booth the next time you are at the market and say hello to Anne. You’ll be gald you did!  🙂
